Finding the Subtle joy of being in the present moment with Walt Opie

In this episode we have meditation teacher, writer and poet Walt Opie.

Walt Opie is a dharma teacher in the Insight Meditation tradition. 

He began leading sitting groups specifically for people in addiction recovery in 2011.

he has been a volunteer teacher with Boundless Freedom Project (formerly known as Buddhist Pathways Prison Project) inside prisons in California. He also served on their nonprofit board for five years, including two years as Board Chair. Walt also serves on the board of the Buddhist recovery network and lives in Berkley California with his wife and their daughter. 

We discuss how meditation helped him with his recovery journey as well as daily life and how to turn hard moments into pleasant ones as well as residential retreats and of course a guided meditation by Walt specially designed for helping with recovery.
